Victorian jewellery box
Smart looking rosewood jewelry or sewing box dating approximately to the early 1900s. It has a deep patina, offset by mother of pearl inlay around the edges of the lid and to the front of the box. The escutcheon and cartouche are also mother of pearl.
Inside, the lift out tray is a plush plum colour, with different compartments, one of which is lidded. Below this tray is a deeper compartment for larger items of jewelry.
The hinges are sound as is the working lock and key.
New baize has been fitted to the base.
Overall this box is in beautiful condition with minor signs of wear that do not detract from its integrity.
