Victorian inlaid jewellery box
Superb 19th century inlaid walnut jewellery box. It has been fully restored to a very high quality.
Dating from the late 1800s, it has a mother of pearl cartouche on the lid and mother of pearl escutcheon around the lock, with decorative Tumbridge bands in boxwood and ebony along the sides.
The box retains the original lock, top catch and later replacement hinges. It comes with a silk tassel and Victorian key that sadly does not lock the box.
The lid opens fully to reveal a lovely interior tray for small items of jewellery, lined with peach coloured velvet. The tray lifts out, providing storage for larger items.
The base has also been lined in velvet to stop any scratches to other surfaces.
