Victorian book slide
These are beautiful Victorian (early 20th century) bookends with a sliding mechanism that allows the shelf to extend to approximately twice its length. Each end folds down so the book slide can be completely flat for easy storage.
The wood looks like mahogany - possibly rosewood - and each end has intricate and decorative fretwork. The entire shelf is light and elegant, and in excellent condition for its age, with no visible scratches or splits.
