Mid century cookie jar
A beautiful ceramic jar with wooden lid, from the mid-century period. It was acquired at a brocante market in France and is signed on the underside. The signature is slightly hard to make out but looks like "Jourday". The jar is sunflower yellow with two slim brown bands around the middle that complement the wood of the lid.
It has 3 small nicks, one of which is on the base and not noticeable when the jar is upright. The other two nicks are smaller and do not distract the eye from the beauty of the jar.
It has a stippled surface which makes it very tactile. Its shape is unusual in that it is hollow between the container and the exterior of the jar.
