Japanese key box
This is an exquisite little Japanese key box circa early 20th century. The painted detail in reds and golds against the black lacquered wood on all sides of the box is gorgeous, depicting trees with blossoms and mythological creatures. It has some age spots but they do not detract from the beauty of the artwork.
The interior is lined with red fabric that is intact with very minor discoloration, and has five hooks for keys. The door closes with a clasp and opens on two small hinges.
There are two hooks at the back to hang the key box on a wall.
