Dutch gingerbread mold - "Lord and Lady"
Large, oak, finely-carved double-sided antique Dutch gingerbread mold of a medieval nobleman and lady holding a bird. There is a hook on one side so that the mold can be hung as a decorative item. At some point in the life of this mold, an over-enthusiastic cook must have dug a knife too deeply into the dough to pull it out of the mold, piercing the lady's skirt, but it does not detract from the beautiful detail on the carvings.
This splendid mold was formerly part of a private collection at the home of one of the Dutch directors of the Philips company.
