A tall candle holder made of wood and brass. It has a turned wood base on which stands a brass Grecian style boy holding the turned wood upper part of the candle holder. It is a very striking piece.
A church-style candle (max diameter 3") fits in the holder.
The piece may not always have been a candle holder, although we acquired it as such, because when we acquired it there was a screw protruding from the top section. We have cut this level with the holder so that a candle can be comfortably placed in it. Signs of where the screw used to be are visible in the third photograph. It is discreet and completely hidden when there is a candle in the holder.
There is a small hole in the brass just above the boy's head, but it is not visible from the front and does not compromise the candleholder in any way.
